Electrical,
Plumbing and Mechanical Inspections
Electrical
Inspections - The inspection of all low and high voltage
systems including conduit and wiring before any part of the
work is concealed. This includes heating cable installations.
Public
Safety Inspections - The inspection of required fire alarm,
emergency lighting and power acceptance tests for new and
replacement systems.
Special
Equipment and Movie Shoot Inspections - The inspection
of unique or one of a kind machine tools and other electronic
equipment which have no test standards available or UL acceptance.
Plumbing
Inspections - The inspection of plumbing piping before
any work is concealed. The water piping must be under normal
operating pressure. The drainage system must be filled with
water to ten feet above the highest point during the inspection.
Fire
Sprinkler Inspections - The inspection of all distribution
piping to be installed.
Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning Inspections - The inspection
of rough heating and refrigeration including ductwork and
ventilation systems for bathrooms or clothes dryers before
any part of the work is concealed.
Seismic
Gas Shutoff Valves - An inspection is required when a
seismic gas shut-off valve is installed on the customer's
house piping. If the valve is installed on Gas Company piping,
there is no permit or inspection required. If the valve is
installed on the owner's piping, both a permit and inspection
are required.
Elevator
Inspections - Inspections are required for the installation
or alteration of any elevator, moving walk, escalator or dumbwaiter.
In addition, annual inspections of said equipment are required
to verify with provisions of the building code and other laws
enforced by the Department.
Pressure
Vessel Inspection - Inspections are required for the construction
of boilers and pressure vessels and the installation thereof
to conform to minimum requirements for safety from structural
and mechanical failure and excessive pressures. In addition,
annual inspections of said equipment are required to verify
with provisions of the building code and other laws enforced
by the Department.
